The Great Wall was built in 220-206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang to protect the northern border of China to protect the Chinese States and empire from invasions and raids of nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steep. Since then, little of the wall remains and has on and off been rebuilt, enhanced and maintained, most of the existing wall was built during the Ming Dynasty between 1368 and 1644.

The wall was used for border controls, trade, immigration and emigration and defence. Watch towers, troop barracks and garrison station and signalling capabilities by using smoke or fire. Also, the Great Wall was used as a transportation corridor.
