Last Saturday, I went on a day hike with my mom and my brother. It was a Doors Open event today at R.C. Harris Water Filtration Plant.
I learnt that the water comes from the lake, then its added with chlorine to get rid of bacteria. After that, the water is filtered for larger items such as rock and lake weed, then alum is added and the water is put into a settling basin where heavy flocs drop to the bottom of the basin. The water moves to the filtration, the water sifts through carbon, sand and gravel. The water then gets added by fluoride, to prevent cavities, and chlorine. The purified water stays in storage before distribution. When the water leaves the plant ammonia is added to stabilize the chlorine. They then is spread across the city for us to use.
After the plant, we went to Ward Island to see our builder's sister's art. Butler came with us and it was his first time on the island ferry. We visited our architect and had ginger beer and burgers at the Refectory Café. It was a wonderful day.

The Wizard of Oz
Two days ago, my cousin Carys was in a play of the Wizard of Oz. She played Dorothy. It was a grade 3-5 show and they were really good and it was funny. I enjoyed the show.
After the show, my other cousin Brenna want to come to our house for dinner. She has never ridden a streetcar, so she came with us. When we got home, we had some hotdogs and then we went to play at the school playground with some other kids. We played grounders and football.
Later, we went to No Bull Burgers. Brenna had fries and an Ice Lemon Tea, My mom had a GF burger without a bun and a Ginger Ale and My brother and I had regular burgers. He had an Ice Lemon Tea and I had a Root Beer.
After dinner, we had to say good bye because Brenna had to go home and we had to go to Karate.
big hole
Last Monday, a little machine called a Bobcat Mini Track Loader came to dig a giant pit in the backyard. It has a big bucket and has tracks like a tank. The Bobcat is to big to go in the alley way to get to the backyard so they had to dig a ramp that goes in to the basement and out to the back.
Yesterday evening, DeMille and I went to the back to see the progress and it was amazing! I was a 6 foot deep hole that went into the neighbors back yard. There was wood planks to keep the sand and dirt from falling out. It was really fun!

Koneline
Last week, we went to see a documentary that my cousin Van filmed. It was called "Koneline: Our Land Beautiful". The film was about the land and how different people live on the land. Koneline was filmed in northwest British Columbia and was directed by Nettie Wild. Nettie is a documentary filmmaker. Her film showed how the Tahltan First Nations live in a changing part of B.C. Some Tahltan people like the change of the mining companies that called the Tahltan territory the "Golden Triangle" because of the abundance of copper and gold while other Tahltan people disliked the mining operations and made human roadblocks.
Also in northwest B.C. there are hunting families that call the area "Canada's Serengeti". There is a woman who takes hunters on trips via horse back. The horses have to cross a big and fast river. Their heads bobbed up and down. .
My favorite scene was the dog sledding scene. It was beautiful cinematography
It was an amazing film! Congratulations to Nettie and Van!
