Sindarin and Tengwar

On the second last day of January, I wanted to learn a new language. It's called Sindarin but there is one problem... It's not a real language! Well it's like Latin, nobody speaks it regularly. I have taken a keen interest on it but its really complicated. All sorts of accents and different pronunciations and also diphthongs.

Sindarin is one of the two common Elvish languages that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote. It is the language of the Woodland Elves.

I am also learning Tengwar. The script is the equivalent to the Latin alphabet we use. Tengwar is an artificial script written also by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is very fascinating.

My dad made me a challenge that if I fill a 60 paged book in 4 months he will give me $15. It doesn't seem much but it gives me a reason not to quit on the first day.

Great Britain-Alex Pilling visit Day-Three

On our third and last day, we had plans to go to Bletchley Park which was the central site for Britain's codebreakers during World War Two. It was run by the Governments Code and Cypher School.

We left after breakfast. Only Toby, Alex, my mum and I went because Emma went to school and Anna had to rest. Once we got there, there was a beautiful museum and interesting videos. We saw the radios that the WRNS(Women's Royal Naval Service) a.k.a. Wrens used to intercept German Enigma messages and the motorcycles the men used to deliver the codes to the different code breakers in their huts.

We saw the famous Enigma Machine and took a walking tour. We also  saw a working Turing Bombe Machine. It was so loud!!! It was so amazing to se it actually work, all the wires and rotors, It was massive.

Alan Turing was amazing, he inspired the computer and was a crossword genius. And seeing all his work was fabulous experience.

After the park, We went home and relaxed. Seeing Alex, Toby, Ana and Emma was so fun and to do fun activities with them was the best. I really enjoyed seeing them.

The next morning, Alex and Emma left for school and we said our goodbyes. After they left, Toby drove my mum and I to my mums friend's house. We spent two nights there.

Going back to England was really nice and I hope to go back soon

Great Britain-Alex Pilling visit Day-Two

On  the next day, we all woke up because Emma had to go to her horse-riding class near by in the countryside. Once we got there, Toby's brother Barney met us, as his daughters also go horse riding.
Barney brought his dog Gus. He is cute. Ooooh, A Shweetie.

Anyway, Emma and her cousins went horse-riding and the rest of us decided to go on a little hike through the countryside. On the hike, Alex and I saw a some nice sized flint cores, as they say, and Alex also noticed that most of the  wood was mostly rotten and easy to break. Soo, we decided to run around breaking tree branches, and picking up rocks and keeping the cool ones.

At this point, all the adults were way ahead, so Alex and I took our time breaking branches. At one point, there was a big bird feeder and next it, was and old car tire so I grabbed  the tire and saw this hill and rolled the tire down the hill. The tire started to catch speed and went faster and faster until there was a tree right in the middle of the tire's trajectory. The tire hit the tree, wobbled a bit and fell.

The walk was over and the girls finished horse riding. Barney had to leave and so did we. We said our goodbyes and left. When we got home my mum needed to go to Tesco so Alex and I came along. On the walk I spotted a really weird bush that looked like a brain. I did a Butler and rubbed all a long the bush and Alex just poked it. Mum also found two baby Micro scooters. They were so bad we fell every five seconds. After Tesco, we were kind of tired, so we went home to rest. At home, Alex and I played some Halo 2 and Barney has a 5000 piece Millennium Falcon and Toby brought that to our house. So did some lego.

Noting much happened after that so, Here are some pictures:

Great Britain-Alex Pilling visit Day-One

Two weeks ago, my mum and I left Toronto Pearson Airport to go to London Heathrow, to see our friends Toby, Ana, Alex and Emma.

They used to live in Canada but they moved to London for a year.

We arrived in London at 6:45 in the morning to see Toby and Alex waiting for us a the exit.
Mum and I greeted them with hugs and "How's the flight?" and "We missed you!" After all that we got in their car and drove to the countryside-where Toby's beautiful cottage/home is. After saying "hi" to Emma and Ana, we all had a delicious English breakfast.

After relaxing for bit, we all decided to go to the London Dungeons. It was really cool. There was rats and torture chambers, a river that stopped and the floor fell and we went backwards. There where small explosions and dust and it was really awesome, then we continued to see Jack the Ripper, a gruesome murderer, and Guy Fawke the man on fire!!! A the end of the tour, we went to the London Dungeon bar and got free Coca Cola slushies.

After a short break, the six of us all went to a famous graffiti tunnel in London. The tunnel smelled of spay paint as the was some guys adding to the tunnel. The was all sorts graffiti, amateurs scribbling their names, big designs and portraits, super heroes and a really really giant piece of art covering the ceiling.

Later, we decided to have a nice lunch, as we were still hungry, the cafĂ© was called the Breakfast Club. Emma and I had an Elvis milkshake and Alex share a pulled pork sandwich. They were delicious, Mum Toby and Ana went into a secret room via a fridge that you open and go downstairs. The fridge was used when alcohol was illegal and they needed to sneak beer, spirits, rum and whisky.

After lunch, we went to the Museum of London and spent a good two hours look at the fascinating history of London and saw lots of cool things. The museum closed and it started to rain, so we decided to go home. After not sleeping on the plane and spending all day in London, I didn't sleep for 30 hours, so when we were home, I got in me bed and was out.

here are some pictures of that day.
